Remember when returning to school meant investing in a few notebooks, a fresh box of crayons, and new shoes? In case you wore a uniform to college, it is likely you got one of those too; otherwise, you got a few new outfits. Which was it.
Well, times have changed. The production list now contains goods that was once provided by the faculties – like scissors, glue and tissues. Every child needs a new backpack, notebooks, paper, pens (red, blue and black), glue sticks, ruler, tape, scissors, markers, folders along with a calculator. If you have two children and you shop the sales, you’ll probably still wind up coughing up over $100.00 in supplies alone. Which doesn’t even count the new clothes your kids “has to have” or fees which are needed for art projects, lab costs, etc.
Don’t even get me began on the supplies, including furniture and appliances, your son or daughter needs for school. Should it ever end?
Follow this advice to save funds on canvas art this season.
1) Recycle – Confirm that which you curently have in your own home. You probably have assorted crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. already there the home. Put these together inside a pencil box and that will save you a couple of bucks.
2) Re-use – Kids believe last year’s backpack must go, but a quick trip with the washing machine might give it new life.
3) Reduce – Does your child have a notebook from a year ago that has three pages of written material within it and 77 blank pages left? Do you find this notebook in the bin – or worse – the garbage? Now’s fun to talk about waste and keeping it low by getting the most use possible of all the item.
