Remember when returning to school meant investing in a few notebooks, a new box of crayons, and new shoes? In case you wore a uniform to high school, it is likely you got some of those too; otherwise, you still have a few new outfits. That has been it.


Well, times have changed. The provision list now contains items that used to be given by the colleges – like scissors, glue and tissues. Every child needs a new backpack, notebooks, paper, pens (red, blue and black), glue sticks, ruler, tape, scissors, markers, folders and a calculator. When you have two children so you shop the sales, you may still end up coughing up over $100.00 in supplies alone. And that doesn’t even count the newest clothes your child “has to have” or fees which can be necessary for art projects, lab costs, etc.

Don’t even get me started on the supplies, including furniture and appliances, your youngster needs for school. Can it ever end?

Below are great tips for saving cash on canvas art this coming year.

1) Recycle – Confirm everything you have in your own home. You almost certainly have assorted crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. available your home. Put these together in the pencil box and that will save a couple of dollars.

2) Re-use – Kids think that last year’s backpack needs to go, however a quick trip over the automatic washer can provide it new life.

3) Reduce – Does your kids use a notebook from this past year which has three pages of written material within it and 77 blank pages left? Have you find this notebook within the trash can – or worse – the garbage? Now is a fun time to talk about waste and keeping it down by getting probably the most use possible from every item.
